This was Day 1 of a three-day teaching experience at Evergreen Cultural Art Center in Ft. Worth, Texas. We developed a unit exploring the idea of emotion and art. For our first day, we taught clients how to create sun catchers using tissue paper and liquid starch on wax paper. Their goal was to create an abstract design to express their emotion.

Next, they explored different elements of art and used mixed media to create a self-portrait that represented different emotions. (demo just above)
This was my second time visiting the cultural arts center and this wonderful group of people. We learned a great deal about our group of students that would help us plan for future visits. It also gave us a better idea of any differentiation needed for individual students. I also learned valuable information about myself and my teaching style. I feel most confident when I am prepared, so I felt good about all the extra preparation I did for this visit. It gave me the ability to understand the lessons and teach them to the clients.
