Through the art education program. I have had the privilege to work with some amazing individuals at the Evergreen life services' cultural art center in Ft. Worth.
Over the break I organized a group of classmates to work together with volunteer clients to create a mural at their facility. I learned a ton about organizing a group mural, scheduling, supply management and how to adapt on the fly.
Our goal was to facilitate an opportunity for the clients to create a group work. It turned into two murals that were the same style and content so we could involve as many volunteers as possible, which was amazing. We decided to first outline some volunteers, then with our supervision, clients filled the space with a variety of color, shapes, patterns and lines to capture the energetic and creative atmosphere of the facility. We added the words, "Everyone Matters" on the mural near the entrance, and " Evergreen + UTA" on the second mural. Above is a time-lapse of day one, and below are some photos of the amazing process!
Here is the final result!
This was an incredible experience and I am so grateful for the opportunity. I've included below, a little information from Evergreen's website, go check it out and see how you can contribute to some truly amazing people.
